MINNEAPOLIS, MN
This project truly touched our hearts. Picturing Peace is a collaborative community engagement and photography project that explores youth violence, peace and safety, and community support for young people. The project was developed by the Minneapolis Department of Health and Family Support and the Minneapolis Downtown Improvement District (MDID) to involve young people in recognizing community elements fostering peace, rather than violence. Kids from the local Boys and Girls Club were partnered with a professional photographer to create photographic representations of peace. For some kids, peace was a tranquil park. For others, it was cultural diversity and accepting friendships. It was an honor to work with Minneapolis and these organizations and humbling to see peace through the eyes of children.
